Celebrate the end of summer with ACT Players’ Shakespeare in the Parks production of The Tempest! Join us on a not-very-uninhabited island for Shakespeare’s intricate comedy of romance, revenge, politics, family, magic, and farce. Admission is free; pay what you will.
Prospero, the deposed duke of Milan, has been stranded on an island for twelve years with his daughter Miranda. Now, Prospero has conjured up a storm with the help of a magical spirit, Ariel, to shipwreck the King of Naples, his son and heir (Ferdinand), his trusty advisor (Gonzalo), his brother (Sebastian), and Prospero’s scheming brother (Antonio). Accompanied by original music, this fast-paced production features some of Shakespeare’s most beautiful language, comic misadventures, and memorable characters.
Experience this enchanting tale under the open sky in ACT Players’ outdoor production of The Tempest. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, settle in beneath the stars, and enjoy an unforgettable evening of live theater.
Admission is pay what you wish, making this magical experience accessible to everyone. Whether you’re a lifelong Shakespeare fan or discovering the Bard for the first time, all are welcome.
Rain or shine, the show goes on! In the event of inclement weather, performances will be moved indoors to the Community Room at the park.

Help Us Bring The Tempest to Life!
Our outdoor production of The Tempest will take a little extra work behind the scenes! We’re looking for volunteers to help with tech setup and teardown, including moving important lighting, sound, and production equipment in and out each performance day.
You don’t need to be a tech expert—we especially need people who are willing to lift, carry, set up, and help us get everything safely packed away at the end of the night.
We’re also looking for our usual ushers and concessions/merch table volunteers to help welcome our audiences and keep things running smoothly during performances.
Whether you can help with setup, teardown, front-of-house, or all of the above, we’d love to have you!

Is there anything I should know before seeing this show?
The Tempest includes a simulated storm, theatrical combat, themes of revenge and forgiveness, and Shakespeare’s original language. As this is an outdoor performance, there may also be amplified sound, changing weather, and the occasional curious squirrel who thinks they belong in the cast.
What is the runtime?
Approximately 80-90 minutes with no intermission.
What time should I arrive?
We’ll start checking guests in approximately 30 minutes before the performance.
However, the park is open to the public all day, so if you arrive three hours early with a blanket, snacks, and the determination of a theater kid on opening night… we fully support your choices.
How can I support the production?
ACT Players presents Shakespeare in the Parks free of charge. We welcome donations to support this an other productions. You can donate by cash or check before or after the performance, or by credit card
